I refer to the media statement on Wednesday 17 August 2022: $10 million to fuel new renewable hydrogen transport project , and I ask: (a) through the renewable energy purchased from the South West Interconnected System and the renewable energy certificates, will the hydrogen be 100 percent green; (b) if yes to (a), is this a requirement of the grant; (c) will the Minister table a list of the other expressions of interest for the Hydrogen Fuelled Transport Program grant; and (d) is the two megawatt electrolyser for the refuelling station separate to the electrolysers intended to produce hydrogen for ammonia at H2Perth?

1. Woodside’s submission is that Hydrogen Refueller @H2Perth will produce hydrogen using electrolysis, powered by renewable energy sourced from the South West Interconnected System. Production will be timed to occur during periods of excess solar in the grid and stored on-site. Where needed, Woodside will also use renewable energy certificates.
2. The grant will require the proposal to be implemented as submitted.
3. It is not government practice to list unsuccessful applicants in grant programmes.
4. Yes, Woodside’s Hydrogen Refueller @H2Perth will be a self-contained hydrogen production, storage and refuelling station and is separate to the electrolysers intended to produce hydrogen for ammonia at H2Perth.
