854. Ms McHALE to the Minister for Health:
(1) When a female public patient is admitted to the Joondalup Health Campus to give birth, is she provided with -
(a) nappies for the baby;
(b) soap in the ward or room; and/or
(c) baby blankets; and
(2) What is an expectant mother informed she ought to bring with her on admission?

The Minister Replied:
(1) (a) Yes, cloth nappies.
(b) Yes.
(c) Yes.
(2) Although the hospital does provide them, expectant mothers can bring the following items.
(i) Formula plus accessories if the mother is intending to bottle-feed (bottles and Formula are provided by the hospital when required).
(ii) Disposable nappies if not using hospital cloth nappies.
(iii) Disposable baby wipes (cloth wipes are provided by the hospital).
(iv) Personal baby clothes (clothes and wraps are also provided by the hospital).
Expectant mothers are advised to bring personal toiletries and cotton wool balls.
