(1) What is the Government’s position on the proposed private jetty at Northbank in North Fremantle? (1) The proposed private jetty is the subject of a development application to the Swan River Trust. The Minister for the Environment and Heritage will determine the application in accordance with the provisions of the Swan River Trust Act 1988 after receiving the trust’s report and recommendations on the application. (2) The Government’s general position is that applications for the development of private and public jetties and other structures on the river, riverbank and river foreshores need to be considered on their individual merits in accordance with the provisions of the Swan River Trust Act 1988, and in the context of the Swan River Trust’s policies. (3) As reflected in the trust’s policies, the Government’s approach is that of a balanced development of facilities and infrastructure to ensure that a diverse range of recreational opportunities are available to the community to enjoy the river while maintaining the environmental values of and the public’s access to the river and foreshores.
