I ask this question on behalf of Hon Bruce Donaldson, who is away on parliamentary business. Will the Minister advise of any government measures to improve hospitals in Western Australia, particularly in rural areas? Hon PETER FOSS

I thank the member for some notice of this question. Over the past eight financial years, the Government has allocated a total of $645 767 000 for capital works within the Health portfolio. A significant proportion of that expenditure was in rural and remote areas. I table a list of the major allocations in rural and remote areas in Western Australia. [See paper No 196.]
