I refer the Premier to the BHP Billiton (Termination of Agreements) Agreement Bill. Why is the government willing to release BHP Billiton from its longstanding obligations to pursue development of value-adding industry based on its iron ore resources? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. In order to answer this question it is necessary that the Department of Industry and Resources review all BHP Billiton’s secondary processing obligations under the state agreements referenced in the BHP Billiton (Termination of Agreements) Agreement Bill 2005. A final response will be provided as soon as possible.
