287. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer the minister to the planned
construction of bus lanes for the middle of Charles Street between Newcastle
and Carr Streets.
(1) When is construction expected to
commence?
(2) When will construction be
completed?
(3) How and when were residents
consulted?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) Construction is expected to commence in May 2016.
(2) It will be completed in early 2017.
(3) Local councils have provided approval
for the project and have been consulted with during the development of the
concept design. Local affected businesses in the James Street precinct have
been consulted. On 12 November 2015, a community information session for
Cleaver Street residents took place. In January 2016, a project newsletter was
distributed.
