POLICE — EFFICIENCY DIVIDEND
463. Mrs M.H. ROBERTS to the Minister for Police:
It is now four months since the state budget was delivered.
(1) Has WA
Police identified the budget cuts to meet the required $21 million efficiency
dividend?
(2) Does she
agree with the police union that the government will have blood on its hands if
cuts are made to traffic squads?
(3) Has the
Commissioner of Police signed the resource agreement as required by the
Financial Management Act?

I thank the member for Midland for the question.
(1)–(3)
My discussions with the Commissioner of Police regarding how the WA Police will
meet their share of this state government's efficiency dividend —
Mrs M.H. Roberts :
Do you know anything about accountability?
The SPEAKER :
Member for Midland!
Mrs L.M. HARVEY :
Those discussions are ongoing. Since I was sworn in as minister on 29 June we
have been in discussions over a range of options that WA Police has put to me
on how it will meet the efficiency dividend. The efficiency dividend is a very
important measure of government to ensure that government is running
efficiently and effectively. My commitment is that front-line services will not
be affected. I have relayed that to the commissioner.
Mrs M.H. Roberts :
Are you going to meet the efficiency dividend?
Mrs L.M. HARVEY :
It is my intention that WA Police will meet its share of the two per cent
efficiency dividend.
