NATIVE FOREST — TIMBER EXPORT
437. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the minister representing the
Minister for Forestry:
Further to
question 350 of Tuesday, 6 August 2013, on native forest timber exports —
(1) Will the
Minister for Forestry table the data received thus far on the processing of
native forest logs sold from state forest?
(2) When will
the balance of returns for 2012–13 be received?
(3) What is
the reason for all of the 2012–13 data not yet being received?
(4) How will
the budget allocation of $600 000 for computers, plant and equipment this year
and in each of the out years for the Forest Products Commission affect the
timeliness of record keeping?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) I table
the information.
(2)–(3) The
Forest Products Commission is currently following up with sawmills which are
yet to submit data. However, as previously advised, there is no requirement for
sawmills to provide this data.
(4) The FPC's
strategic objective for this budget allocation is to upgrade the outdated
software systems and hardware to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of
its management of harvest operations and contracts.
