STATE BUDGET — SENIORS' CONCESSIONS
497. Mr B.S. WYATT to the Treasurer:
I have a supplementary question.
The Treasurer said that he had no intention of changing the volume of money or
the allocation of that money over the next year or so. I ask again: over the
2014–15 financial year, does he have any intention to change the
allocation of moneys?

We have changed none of the
concessions; we will continue to fund those as is. The only change we made is
the change that was announced yesterday to the cost-of-living adjustment
payment, and the only change there was to more or less compensate for the cuts
by the commonwealth, and that is estimated to be about $20 million. It falls
short of the $25 million in cuts from the commonwealth. Over this next year—changes,
no doubt, will be considered in the next budget—we will undoubtedly
review it and make some changes to the concession arrangements to make them
better targeted and more equitable.
