I refer to the Government’s recent announcement to relocate the Department of Parks and Wildlife headquarters to Koombana Drive, Bunbury, and I ask: (a) has possession of the maritime archaeological sites at lots 881, 882 and 883 Koombana Drive, Bunbury been vested in the Western Australian Museum pursuant to section 6(1) of the Maritime Archaeological Act 1973 ; and (b) if no to (a), why not?

(a) No.
(b) I am advised that not all wrecks, maritime archaeological remains, or associated materials are eligible for protection under Sections 3 and 4 of the Maritime Archaeology Act 1973 and in any case, discretion would be exercised prior to declaring a site.
