(1) As at 7 May 2013, the juvenile detention population was 184.
(2a) 5684 or 61.94% of juvenile offenders entering detention between 1
November 2008 and 7 May 2013 were Indigenous.
(b)-(c) This information is not recorded in a matter that is easily
retrievable. This information is not contained in any electronic form and would
require the Department to look at every individual file of a detainee from 1
November 2008 to present.
(d) Only 17 cases of 'No Fixed Abode' are recorded. If WA addresses
(excluding Aboriginal Community addresses) with a known town/suburb but without
a street name are included, the number increases to 102 or 1.11%.
(e) Of the 9176 juvenile offenders entering detention between 1 November
2008 and 7 May 2013, 970 (10.57%) were under care and protection orders (in
state care).
(f) 1,369 offenders or 14.92% (excluding Fine Default Only cases but
including Suspension/Cancellation Early Release Order) were sentenced for a
crime subject to a maximum penalty of two years or less.
