(1) What is the current juvenile detention centre muster?
(2) What number (expressed both as a raw figure and percentage) of juvenile offenders entering detention between 1 November 2008 and the present time:
(a) were indigenous;
(b) had a diagnosed mental illness;
(c) were intellectually disabled;
(d) were recorded as having no fixed abode at the time of their sentencing;
(e) were under care and protection orders (in state care); and
(f) were sentenced for a crime subject to a maximum penalty of two years or less?
(2) What number (expressed both as a raw figure and percentage) of juvenile offenders entering detention between 1 November 2008 and the present time:
(a) were indigenous;

(1) As at 7 May 2013, the juvenile detention population was 184.
(2a) 5684 or 61.94% of juvenile offenders entering detention between 1
November 2008 and 7 May 2013 were Indigenous.
(b)-(c) This information is not recorded in a matter that is easily
retrievable. This information is not contained in any electronic form and would
require the Department to look at every individual file of a detainee from 1
November 2008 to present.
(d) Only 17 cases of 'No Fixed Abode' are recorded. If WA addresses
(excluding Aboriginal Community addresses) with a known town/suburb but without
a street name are included, the number increases to 102 or 1.11%.
(e) Of the 9176 juvenile offenders entering detention between 1 November
2008 and 7 May 2013, 970 (10.57%) were under care and protection orders (in
state care).
(f) 1,369 offenders or 14.92% (excluding Fine Default Only cases but
including Suspension/Cancellation Early Release Order) were sentenced for a
crime subject to a maximum penalty of two years or less.
