AMBULANCE RAMPING
620. Mr Z.R.F. KIRKUP to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. The
Premier says he is solving the problems. If that is the case, why has the rate
of ambulance ramping almost tripled since he was so indignant about this issue
back in 2015?

The Minister for Health has just
advised me that the number of emergency department visits in June of this year
was 86 000—the highest number in history. Over the time of this flu
season, there have been 66 deaths. As I said, it is the greatest spike in flu
deaths in 100 years, since we can recall what happened after the First World
War. Clearly, it has been a significant issue for the health system to deal
with. I think the health system has been quite magnificent in coping with a very
difficult set of circumstances.
The SPEAKER : That is the end
of question time.
