I refer to the threatened closure of the Museum of Childhood, currently managed by Edith Cowan University, and the proposed storage of its collection in the Department of Culture and the Arts’ Kewdale warehouse. (1) Will the minister assure the Western Australian community that the proposed redevelopment of the WA Museum will incorporate a children’s centre or museum of childhood? (2) If no to (1), what are the Government’s long-term plans with respect to the housing and display of the collection? (3) Will the minister provide and manage a temporary base for the Museum of Childhood until such time as the WA Museum is redeveloped or alternative permanent accommodation is secured? (4) If no to (3), how will the minister ensure that the public maintains access to the collection? Hon GRAHAM GIFFARD
