1113. Hon COLIN HOLT to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Culture and the Arts:
I refer to the Western Australian
government's commitment to the WA film industry.
(1) What cost–benefit
analysis has been done on the Western Australian Regional Film Fund, and can
the minister please table any analysis?
(2) What is the government's
funding commitment to the WA Regional Film Fund beyond 2019–20?
(3) What will be
the total amount of funding provided to CinefestOZ for the years 2019–20,
2020–21 and 2021–22?
(4) What funding program is
providing that funding?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) As part of
its contract with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development,
Screenwest is required to conduct a full
review of the WA Regional Film Fund at the conclusion of the fund. Screenwest is in the process of finalising this review, which will address the cost–benefit
analysis.
(2) A business
case for the continuation of the WA Regional Film Fund will be considered as
part of the 2019–20 budget process.
(3)–(4) Funding is provided
from Tourism WA, which falls under the tourism portfolio.
