I refer to the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services (OICS) Report into an Announced Inspection of the West Kimberley Regional Prison (2017), noting that Recommendation 17 was to improve local recruitment strategies and recruit training to encourage Kimberley locals
to work as officers at the West Kimberley Regional Prison, and ask: (a) does the Minister accept this recommendation: (i) if not, why not; (b) when will this recommendation be implemented; and (c) what strategies are in place at the West Kimberley Regional Prison to ensure there is a high participation rate of the broader Kimberley community in the operations at the prison?
