NATURAL DISASTER RELIEF AND RECOVERY ARRANGEMENTS
734. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the Leader of the
House representing the Premier:
I refer to the Western Australian
natural disaster relief and recovery arrangements administered by the Premier's
department and to heavy rainfall and flooding in the south west and the great
southern from 18 to 21 January 2016.
(1) What is the status of the claims
from local governments following this event?
(2) If paid, when did that occur and
why could this not be progressed more expeditiously?
(3) If claims
have not been paid, what has been the impediment to meeting the claims that
were submitted expeditiously?
(4) In light of
unacceptable delay, does the Premier consider changes to the scheme are
warranted to facilitate better response to communities seriously affected by
natural disaster?
