The laws that we bring in will be
applicable to everyone, whether they are a corporation, a union or an
individual. They will be fair on everyone. As I said, it is staring us all in
the face: what goes on in the United States with its democracy is absolutely
sickening, whereby there is a massive fundraising machine that many of them
engage in and essentially people who are billionaires are running for political
office because they are the only ones who can afford
to do so. That is not the way we want our democracy to develop. We want
everyone from all walks of life to have
the opportunity to run for political office. We need to make sure that we do
not get into some sort of fundraising arms race, because sometimes one
side will win and sometimes the other side will win. It should be a system that
is transparent, accountable and fair. They are the laws we promised before we
went to the state election; they are the laws that we will bring in.
