For each Department and Agency within the Minister’s portfolios:
(a) as at 9 March 2010 how many vehicles are allocated to the department or agency;
(b) what washing arrangements are provided for each vehicle;
(c) if any vehicle is commercially cleaned since 23 September 2008 please provide:
(i) the cost breakdown for each vehicle and cleaning bill;
(ii) how often each vehicle is booked in to be commercially cleaned;
(iii) the address where the vehicle is cleaned; and
(iv) advise whether vehicles are cleaned during office hours;
(d) what detailing arrangements are provided for each vehicle;
(e) if any vehicle is commercially detailed since 23 September 2008 please provide:
(i) the cost breakdown for each vehicle and cleaning bill;
(ii) how often each vehicle is booked in to be commercially cleaned;
(iii) the address where the vehicle is cleaned; and
(iv) advise whether vehicles are detailed during office hours; and
(f) please provide a subtotal of a vehicle’s cleaning costs for each department or agency since 23 September 2008.

(b) If vehicles are used in a "pool type" arrangement, car wash facilities are included on fuel cards or commercial cleaning is carried out by contractors on an "as needs" basis. Cleaning of home garaged vehicles is the home garaging officer's responsibility, except where the vehicle has been used in extreme off-road conditions for work purposes in which case the Department authorises use of car wash facilities or commercial cleaning.
(c) (i)  For the cost breakdown and cleaning bill for each vehicle commercially cleaned for the period 23 September 2008 to 20 March 2010 please refer to table paper no. [ ]
(ii) The table shows the number of times that vehicles have been commercially cleaned. The frequency of commercial cleaning varies according to operational conditions.
(iii) See answer to (i).
(iv) Pool vehicles are generally cleaned during office hours, however pool vehicles are heavily utilised through the day and so on occasion some vehicles are cleaned on weekends. Home garaged vehicles are cleaned after hours in the assigned officer's private time.
(d) Vehicles are detailed prior to auction as part of the whole of government leasing arrangements. No other arrangements for detailing are in place for the department.
(e) (i) The costs for detailing prior to sale are included as part of the whole of government leasing arrangements and are built into the lease costs.

Cleaning of home garaged vehicles is the home garaging officer's  responsibility, except where the vehicles have been used in conditions for work purposes in which the BGPA authorises commercial cleaning.

Perth Zoo
(a) 7
(b) No washing arrangements are formally in place for Zoo vehicles. Five vehicles kept at the Zoo site are cleaned by Zoo staff as part of their duties. Two home garaged vehicles are washed at the cost and convenience of the staff member they are assigned to. Occasionally following regional visits, Zoo cars are commercially cleaned.
(c) Commercial cleaning of vehicles has been arranged on two occasions since 23 September 2008:
(i)  $81.50 to $90.00 for a wash and clean;
(ii) No vehicles are booked for regular cleaning. Vehicles are commercially cleaned on an ad hoc basis only;
(iii)  Perth Zoo, 20 Labouchere Road, South Perth 6151;
(iv) the vehicles are cleaned during office hours.
(d)  The vehicles are washed and vacuumed. The vehicles are not commercially detailed.
(e) No vehicles leased or owned by the Zoological Parks Authority have been detailed since 23 September 2008:
(i)-(iv) N/A
