COLLIE
COALFIELDS HIGHWAY — UPGRADES
430. Hon SUE ELLERY to the minister representing the Minister
for Transport:
This question without notice was lodged by Hon Adele Farina,
who is out of the chamber on urgent parliamentary business.
Further to the 2012–13 state budget announcement that
$10.6 million has been allocated for continuing upgrades to the Coalfields
highway from the Wellington Dam turnoff to Collie —
(1) What
design work has been done for this section of road?
(2) What
privately owned properties, state forestry areas or sections of the Wellington
National Park have been identified for land acquisition in this area?
(3) Has any
legislation been drafted for the acquisition of this state-owned land?
(4) What
negotiations have been undertaken with private landowners that may be affected
by this section of the Coalfields highway?
(5) Has any
funding been allocated for land acquisition; and, if so, what is the total
amount?

The Minister for Transport advises that unfortunately these questions cannot be
answered in the time allocated; however, the member is welcome to place this
question on notice. The minister advises that Main Roads Western Australia is
currently working on a response to an identical question asked on notice by the
member for Collie–Preston, and the member may be interested in the
response.
