(1) Further to the answer to question on notice No. 1533, in what localities are transport licensing centres based in the non-metropolitan areas of the South West of Western Australia?
(2) By what dates are EFTPOS facilities expected to be introduced into each of these licensing centres, in particular Busselton and Capel?
(3) For former licensing centres such as at the Shire of Capel, which declined some years ago to retain the licensing centre based in its Council offices because of its inability to accept payment by credit card, will the Department provide the opportunity for them to again become transport licensing centres?

2) When the new licensing system TRELIS is introduced, EFTPOS will be available at the Bunbury Licensing Centre. The exact timing of this is subject to final computer application testing currently being undertaken. At this stage EFTPOS will not be extended by DPI to licensing agents because of difficulties arising from individual banking arrangements. However, the agents at Margaret River- Augusta and Boyup Brook do offer EFTPOS to Licensing customers as an extension to existing services already offered to their customers. 3) The Shire of Capel terminated the licensing agency as it was of the opinion that the licensing commissions at the time did not adequately cover the cost of operating a licensing agency. DPI has a bill paying service for licensing invoices through Australia Post in Capel but will evaluate the feasibility of any request from the Shire of Capel for a full licensing service in the town.
