RE-USABLE PLASTIC BAGS —
BAN
1290. Hon
SIMON O'BRIEN to the Minister for Environment:
What plans does the government have
to ban the use of re-usable plastic bags?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
As the member would be aware, from 1
July this year, we obviously brought in a ban on single-use plastic bags with
35 microns or less. I and my ministerial colleagues will be meeting on Friday
over east to discuss a future phase-out of single-use plastic. At this stage,
there is no plan, but there will be a conversation about those heavier bags and
what we might do with them in years to come.
