TRANSPORT — RADIO
SYSTEMS REPLACEMENT CONTRACT
291. Hon KEN BASTON to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
My question is on behalf of Hon
Tjorn Sibma, who is away on urgent parliamentary business.
I refer to the Minister for
Transport's media statement on Friday, 27 March titled ''Radio
Systems Replacement contract update''.
(1) Noting that
the transition work will include exploring what subcontracting arrangements can
be preserved in the new project, please name all the parties to those
subcontractors, their purpose and monetary value.
(2) How many of
these subcontractors are likely to be terminated or varied as a consequence of
the discontinuance of the current arrangement?
(3) What is now
the government preferred outcome inclusive of Huawei's withdrawal to
the termination of the contract, and why?
(4) Considering
that Huawei and ZTE cannot now be countenanced as future partners for delivery
of the radio system replacement project, does the government have an option to
partner with other parties who were considered by the tender evaluation panel?
(5) Will the minister take a revised
contract to the cabinet for approval?
