ROYALTIES FOR REGIONS — PEEL TO MARGARET RIVER
As a supplementary question, can the minister explain why Gidgegannup and Serpentine are not included in the regions? Mr B.J. GRYLLS

AnswerView source ↗

The royalties for regions funds will apply to all the regional development commission areas, including the Peel Development Commission area. I am not aware exactly whether Serpentine is in — Mr A.J. Simpson interjected. Mr B.J. GRYLLS : Serpentine is in the Peel Development Commission area, so that will apply. Ms A.J.G. MacTiernan : What is the boundary? Mr B.J. GRYLLS : The boundary will be announced in the future. Ms A.J.G. MacTiernan : So we don’t know what the boundary is. Mr B.J. GRYLLS : I do know what the boundary is. Ms A.J.G. MacTiernan : What is it? Mr B.J. GRYLLS : Different areas will qualify for different projects that we put forward. That will be made very clear. The notion that Peel and the south west are excluded from the royalties for regions scheme based on that map is completely wrong. Ms A.J.G. MacTiernan : But you don’t know what the boundary is. Mr B.J. GRYLLS : I do know what the boundary is. Several members interjected. Ms A.J.G. MacTiernan : What is the boundary? The SPEAKER : Perhaps, after question time, the member for Armadale might want to speak to some members on her side of the house if she wants to hear the answers to some of her questions. I cannot hear what the minister is saying. I am sure that some members on the member’s side are interested in the answer, as I am sure she is. I once again urge members on the opposition side of the house to listen to the answer. It may not please them. It may not please some people on the government side of the house either. However, I urge all members to listen to the answer. If there are further questions, perhaps they can be taken up later, but I would like to hear the minister’s answer in silence. Mr B.J. GRYLLS : I just confirm for the benefit of members opposite that the Peel and south west regions are included and will benefit from the royalties for regions scheme.
