Social housing—Inglewood
138. Ms Kirrilee Warr to the Minister for Housing and Works:
I have a
supplementary question. How can the minister assure communities around the
state that he will commit to guaranteeing that antisocial and violent behaviour
will not be tolerated in his tenancies? Will there be a budget allocation?
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members! When you are ready, minister.

What a sad state of
affairs. I mean it is quite extraordinary when you think about it. Every state
with a Liberal or Labor government is committed to social housing and the
delivery of social housing.

The Speaker: Members!
Mr John Carey: Again, it is no surprise that at the
last election the Nationals WA had no social housing policy and the Liberals
decided to match what Labor was doing. The only questions and statements we are
hearing from the opposition are focused on the worst.
Several members
interjected.
The Speaker: Members!
Mr John Carey: I know the member for Geraldton's
personal record of opposing social housing in a particular suburb—that
is your record, member for Geraldton. I have to say this respectfully; I am not
surprised by the tone being set by the WA Liberals given its leader shut down a
women's shelter.
