TAFE—Funding
367. Hon Tjorn Sibma to
the Leader of the House representing the
Minister for Skills and TAFE:
I refer again to the Office of the Auditor General's
(OAG) report 18 Universities and TAFEs 2024 ,
which revealed that each TAFE in WA has recorded a budget deficit every
year between 2019 and 2024 inclusive.
(1) Does the minister concur with the OAG's
assessment of ongoing budget deficits across the TAFE sector?
(2) Why have these budget deficits occurred?
(3) Does the minister expect a similar outcome for
the TAFE sector for 2025?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) The OAG report notes that after adjusting for
non-cash items such as depreciation and amortisation, the results reflect
operating surpluses.
(2)–(3) Refer to (1).
