(1) Can the minister confirm that Curtin University of Technology is terminating a number of its humanities courses and closing Hayman Theatre at the end of this year? (2) If the minister does not have the answer today, will she give an undertaking to inform this chamber at the next sitting which courses Curtin University intends to terminate and what action the government will take to prevent courses being terminated at a university that operates under one of its acts? I thank Hon Barbara Scott for the question. (1)-(2) I think it will be up to the university itself to make such a determination based on a number of factors, including student enrolments and the viability of courses and those that should or should not be available. However, I am happy to provide that information. I assume I can secure it for the next sitting; I will certainly endeavour to do so. I cannot confirm with any degree of accuracy whether courses will be terminated because this is the first time it has been brought to my attention.
