INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA —
LEASE AGREEMENT
1365. Hon SUE
ELLERY to the Minister for Education:
I
refer to the agreement with the International School of Western Australia to
relocate from its current City Beach site to new refurbished buildings at
Doubleview Primary School.
(1) What is the cost to the state government to end
the International School of Western Australia's lease agreement at City
Beach?
(2) Were any other financial arrangements made as
part of this agreement; and, if so, what was the total cost to the state
government?
(3) Will the minister now release the agreement
between the government and the International School of WA; and, if not, why
not?

I
thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) The Department of Education is not
providing a payout to the International School of Western Australia to leave
the former City Beach high school site. The department has agreed to lease to
the International School of Western Australia like‑for‑like
facilities at the existing Doubleview Primary School site. The department has
agreed to pay the actual costs associated with the agreement to relocate the
International School of Western Australia to the existing Doubleview Primary
School site. The department has set aside $3 million for associated costs for
the relocation and other establishment costs. The department has negotiated a heads
of agreement with the International School of Western Australia. This document
forms the basis of the agreement for lease, which is currently being prepared
by the State Solicitor's Office and is expected to be finalised in
December 2016. The department is prepared to release the heads of agreement
once the agreement for lease has been signed.
