DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION — VOLUNTARY
SEPARATIONS
585. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for
Education:
I refer to the targeted redundancy
program announced in the 2014–15 midyear review for the Department of
Education.
(1) How many
staff have been offered and accepted the redundancy program in 2014–15,
and what is the estimated payout of these redundancies in 2014–15?
(2) What are the
anticipated savings for 2015–16 that will be harvested from the
education department for this reduction in staff, and when are these savings
going to be finalised?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The total
number of offers made under the state governmentXXX ###XXXs
recent targeted voluntary separation scheme was 440; of these, 265 accepted.
The total estimated gross payout for those 265 is $19 935 359. The reason the
gross payout number is estimated is that the total may vary depending on leave
and other pay adjustments required on termination.
(2) Agency
savings flowing from the scheme will be dependent on the final costs and will
be allocated to agency budgets as part of the 2015–16 midyear review.
The scheme closure date is 30 June 2015.
