Government agencies in the Premier's portfolio advise:
Department of the Premier and Cabinet advises for the Office of the Premier, all other Ministerial Offices and Public Sector Commission:
(a) Royalty free music was obtained approximately 3 years ago at a cost of approximately $350.00. This music is played across all DPC sites, including ministerial offices.
(b) No fees are paid as it is royalty fee.
(c) The music was arranged through the Department's Information Technology Branch.
Department of State Development:
(a) The Department of State Development has a series of pre-recorded on-hold messages which reflect the core services of the organisation. These messages are purchased through M2Technology.
(b) No fees are paid to the Australian Performing Rights Association; the cost of all royalties is covered as part of the agreement with M2Technology which purchases the rights to reproduce the music when it buys CDs.
(c) Under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Departments of State Development and Mines and Petroleum, the Communications Branch drafts the scripts which are provided to M2Technology for voice-over and background music recording.
Office of the Public Sector Standard Commissioner:
(a) One classical music CD.
(b) $360.55 for period 1 April 2009 - 31 March 2010.
(c) The OPSSC Information Technology staff who maintain the phone system.
Governor's Establishment:
(a-c) Not applicable to Governor's Establishment.
Gold Corporation:
(a) Tailored scripts are prepared in-house and played on office on-hold telephone systems.
(b) Telephone message specialists, Messages on Hold, hold the licences for all music and sound effects chosen to accompany on-hold scripts. Therefore, no fees are paid to the Australasian Performing Right Association, artists directly, or any copyright bodies.
(c) The Public Relations Manager is responsible for the development and updating of telephone on-hold material. This is conducted quarterly to coincide with new product releases and services provided.
Corruption and Crime Commission of WA:
(a) None
(b) Nil
(c) Manager Finance and Administration.
Lotterywest:
(a) Lotterywest's on hold telephony is royalty free music that is purchased by the company 'On Line On Hold'.
(b) None. Lotterywest have confirmed that 'On Line On Hold' as the service provider hold the license to all audio played. There is no extra cost for utilising their services as the fee is already incorporated into the monthly costs paid by Lotterywest.
