The concept of people paying for the
damage that they cause when they create a nuisance in public is not new. I have
asked my department to look into how we can draft our legislative response to
ensure that it is consistent with other areas of the Criminal Code where the
public are unable to recover costs.
Point of Order
Mrs
M.H. ROBERTS : Mr Speaker, I notice that the member for Churchlands
is now sitting on our side of the house. I am surprised to see a government
member sitting on our side of the house. I would like some clarification as to
how and why that has occurred.
The SPEAKER : Certainly. Let me
provide some information to the house. It was simply a request from an
Independent member, who is entitled to sit in a seat that she wishes to sit in.
