Roebourne Regional Prison—Air conditioning
28. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the minister
representing the Minister for Corrective Services :
I refer to the media
release published 31 July 2025, "Roebourne Prison fully air-conditioned
after project completed", and recent community reports that the air conditioning
has not been working in recent months.
(1) Since the air conditioning was completed, has
there been any occasions where any part of the air-conditioning at Roebourne
Regional Prison has not worked?
(2) If yes to (1), on what dates has the air conditioning
not worked?
(3) If yes to (1), what
is the WA Labor government doing to remedy the issue and provide working air- conditioning
at Roebourne Prison?

I thank the member
for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me
by the Minister for Corrective Services. The department advises the following.
(1) Yes.
(2) The air conditioning has not worked on 24 July
2025, 18 September 2025, 20 December 2025 and 2 January 2026.
(3) Breakdowns are repaired as quickly as possible
through the Department of Housing and Works, and apart from the instances
reported above, the air conditioning at Roebourne Regional Prison has been
fully operational.
