MENTAL
HEALTH FACILITIES — REVIEW
930. Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH to the Minister for Mental
Health:
Given that the minister advised this house on 3 May 2012 that
the state's review into the admission, transfer and discharge practices
of public mental health facilities was expected to be completed in June of this
year, and given that it is now five months since its expected date for
completion, will the minister advise the house of the following —
(1) When did the minister receive this report?
(2) Has the minister read the report by now; and, if not, why
not?
It would help if the minister wrote these down, because she
complains about not being able to remember them —
(3) What
possible excuse can the minister have for not releasing the report, especially
given the number of grieving families who are looking for answers?
(4) Is this not yet another example of the minister's
incompetence in this portfolio?

I thank the member for the question. Yes, I have read the report cover to
cover. I have also spent a lot of time with the Mental Health Commission and
the Department of Health in terms of the recommendations, and the member will
see the report released publicly, in its entirety, very shortly.
