MUCHEA SALEYARDS - INFRASTRUCTURE
I refer to the Muchea saleyards. (1) Given that water in the Muchea area has been overallocated - (a) will water needed for the Muchea saleyards come from the metropolitan supply; and (b) what is the cost of connection? (2) Has the expenditure review committee given final approval for the cost of construction of the Muchea saleyards? (3) Can the Leader of the House now provide the revised cost of road connections to the site? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank Hon Murray Criddle for some notice of this question. (1) The saleyards are expected to be self-sufficient with regard to water needs. The extensive roof of the saleyard complex will be a major catchment and water will be stored in tanks. Runoff water will also be harvested from the saleyard buffer area and stored in dams for truck-wash services. (2)-(3) No. Costs are being reassessed.
