(1) I refer to the Minister’s media statement, dated 11 July 2016, on the proposed new Department of Parks and Wildlife office in Bunbury, in particular the Minister’s statement that on the project’s completion, it is estimated the total population benefit to the region will be 1,545 people with an economic output of $75 million per annum, and ask the Minister to provide the data, formula and basis on which these figures were calculated? (2) Who did the calculations and determined these figures? (3) Have these figures been verified by a different and independent consultant? (4) If yes to (3), who verified the figures? (5) Do the calculations refer to the project stage accommodating 100 staff at the new office or at the completion of the project when 300 staff will be accommodated on site? (6) What action has the Government taken to ensure there are 100 houses available in the Greater Bunbury area to accommodate the 100 staff being relocated from Perth? (7) Has the Government undertaken any projections analysis of the impact of this huge demand on house prices in the Greater Bunbury area and what are the projections?

(1) – (5) The Department of Parks and Wildlife prepared the business case for this project, which included the assessment of the economic impact of the project on Bunbury, so these questions should be directed to the Minister for Environment.
(6) Real Estate Institute of WA statistics indicate the rental vacancy rate in the Bunbury Urban area in the March 2016 quarter was 7.9 per cent. In addition to the existing housing stock in Bunbury, LandCorp is facilitating mixed-used commercial and residential development at Koombana North on the Bunbury waterfront, and is also engaged with the City of Bunbury on other land development proposals. The Department of Planning, in partnership with the Shire of Dardanup, has also recently released the draft District Structure Plan for the new city of Wanju, which will ultimately accommodate about 20,000 new homes and 50,000 people.
(7) No.
