I thank the
member for some notice of the question.
(1) Main Roads
Western Australia has two statewide purpose clearing permits: CPS 817/3
provides for unplanned and emergency clearing and expires on 22 June 2014; and
CPS 818/8 provides for clearing for project activities and expires on 12 June
2014.
(2) These
permits were reviewed by the Department of Environment and Conservation as part
of the application process before their grant in May 2013.
(3) DEC's
review identified no need for amendments to the existing permit conditions
other than a minor change to give effect to legal advice and extending the date
of the permits' expiry.
(4) DEC
received a joint submission from the Conservation Council of Western Australia,
the Wildflower Society of Western Australia and Urban Bushland Council WA Inc
in relation to CPS 818/8.
(5) The
permits have now been granted and were subject to appeal rights. No appeals
were received on the decision to grant the permits; therefore, there is no
advice to provide to the minister.
