I refer to question on notice No. 3160, asked on the 13 May 2015, regarding the town of Cossack, and I ask: (a) has the City of Karratha’s Local Planning Strategy been received by the Western Australian Planning Commission; (b) if yes to (a), has the Western Australian Planning Commission endorsed the strategy; and (c) if no to (a), what is the reason for the delay and what is the timeline for release of the strategy?

(a) No (b) Not applicable (c) The City of Karratha draft Local Planning Strategy was certified as suitable for advertising by the Western Australian Planning Commission on 9 February 2016, and the City was advised to advertise the draft Strategy. Under the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015, a local government is to undertake advertising “as soon as reasonably practicable after being provided with certification”. The City of Karratha has not yet advertised its draft Strategy, however I understand it intends to commence advertising shortly.
