1056. Hon DARREN WEST to the
Attorney General representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to question 893 asked on 8 September about the
traffic crossing near the Mount Barker Community College.
(1) On what
date did the traffic warden commence duties at the student pedestrian crossing
located at Woogenellup Road?
(2) Given that
crossing is a type A crossing and the P&C were required to staff the
crossing with volunteers until the warden commenced duties, will the P&C be
reimbursed or paid for this work; and, if not, why not?
(3) Will the
minister consider upgrading the crossing on Albany Highway to a type A
crossing; and, if not, why not?

(2) Volunteers
are not required to staff type A crossings prior to a warden commencing their
duties. Reimbursement for volunteers is not in accordance with WA Police
policy.
(3) Decisions
relating to the categorisation of crossings are a matter for the Children's
Crossings and Road Safety Committee.
