(1)-(4) It has been a matter of public discussion that the Government of Western Australia has guidelines on government accountability. It is the first time that these types of guidelines have been used for government advertising. We are happy to make them publicly available. They were developed during this Government’s term because I will not ride in helicopters spending taxpayers’ money and then use images of that for the purposes of a political advertisement. We will make those guidelines publicly available. Mr C.J. Barnett: Today? Dr G.I. GALLOP: We will make the guidelines available today. I will consider accountability. On 1 December 1998 the then Minister for Energy answered a question on notice about the cost of the annual report of AlintaGas. Members know that the current Leader of the Opposition was the Minister for Energy at that time. The minister’s answer states - The cost of the report has been successfully reduced each year since AlintaGas’ inception in 1995. Cost details of the annual report are considered commercially confidential by AlintaGas and its suppliers. This Government has been open and accountable about its advertising. We have guidelines for our advertising. That should be contrasted with the Opposition’s record.
