Minister for Tourism:
I refer to the government's
sponsorship of Carnarvon Space Festival.
(1) Who made
application for the funding and when was the application made?
(2) Will the
minister provide a copy of the application for funding; and, if not, why not?
(3) Will the
minister provide financial details of the sponsorship, including the source of
government funding?

I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) Carnarvon
Space and Technology Museum Inc made the application and this was received by
Tourism Western Australia on 26 October 2011.
(2) I
encourage the member to put the question on notice to enable time to assess the
application for commercially sensitive information and also to consult with the
event holder on the release of its application.
(3) An amount
of $20 000 plus GST was provided via the 2012 extraordinary round of the
Regional Events Scheme administered by Tourism Western Australia—Eventscorp—and
funded by the Department of Regional Development and Lands through royalties
for regions.
