SCHOOL EXCURSIONS - AIR TRAVEL
I refer to school excursions involving air travel and bookings made through the current government contract. (1) Which travel company holds the current government contract for booking school excursions for government schools? (2) Is it a requirement that all bookings be made through the current government contract? (3) If yes to (2), what action, if any, is taken by the department should a school not comply with this requirement? (4) If yes to (2), does the minister agree that government schools should be allowed to seek competitive quotes from other travel agencies to ensure best value for money, particularly in circumstances in which the school excursion is self-funded by parents, albeit paid into the school bank account; and, if not, why not? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH
