Western Australian Electoral Commission
411. Hon Philip Scott to
the minister representing the Minister for Electoral Affairs:
My question refers
to the government's 2025–26 budget. The actual net cost of services
that the Western Australian Electoral Commission incurred for the 2024–25
financial year was $57.4 million. The estimate for the 2028–29
financial year, which is also an election year, is $60.8 million, an increase
of only 5.81% over four years. Given that the population of Western Australia
will increase over the next four years and the fact we witnessed significant
administrative issues at this year's election, is the minister able to explain whether
this extra funding will be sufficient for the WAEC to conduct the 2029 state election?
