Uranium mining
476. Hon Simon Ehrenfeld to the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the
comments by former Gallop government adviser Simon Corrigan in The West Australian of 27 October 2025 in support
of uranium mining.
(1) Given the Premier's support for LNG
and carbon capture and storage, will the government now consider uranium mining
as part of its broader low-emissions energy strategy?
(2) Has the government undertaken or
commissioned any recent assessments of the economic potential of a Western
Australian uranium export industry, and if not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) Uranium mining is banned in Western
Australia and the state government has no plans to change its existing policy.
