(2) 30 owners, comprising 46 properties (3) Year $ 1998/99 426,260 1999/00 1,361,333 2000/01 7,628,426 2001/02 6,743,263 (4) $14 million (5) Not all land identified in Bush Forever requires acquisition. The market valuation is approximately $475 million if all lands were to be acquired by the State, and this generally excludes the purchase of government lands. However, Bush Forever identifies a range of implementation mechanisms which recognise the wider social, economic and financial considerations of Government; existing commitments; and, the need to support private conservation initiatives. Measure to conserve Bush Forever sites, other than acquisition include: (i)Negotiated planning solutions, which aim to achieve a reasonable balance between conservation and development and recognise wider social, economic and financial considerations of Government and existing commitments and approvals; and (ii) Assistance, advice and incentives to support private conservation initiatives where a landowner wishes to retain ownership
