How many cases of car stealing or car burglary were reported in 2001, 2002 and up to 30 June 2003 at the railway stations of Whitfords, Currambine, Joondalup and Edgewater? Hon NICK GRIFFITHS

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Minister for Police and Emergency Services has provided the following response - The Western Australian Police Service advise that although the offence information system and the incident management system contain an offence location and sublocation types, including public transport stops and car parks, the extraction of the requested information would provide inconclusive results that could lead to misinterpretation. This is due to several factors, including the combined coding of bus and train stops and certain car parks not being associated sublocations. Further, the Police Service advise that this information is collected to provide operational police with local intelligence and is not for external reporting purposes. The capacity for police systems to specifically record offences committed at rail station car parks is under consideration.
