I refer to the report entitled “Analysis of the Need for Interpreter and Translation Services within the Western Australian Government Sector” dated May 2004 - (1) Has the government completed its review of the report? (2) If so, when does the minister expect to announce a decision on its recommendations? (3) If not, when will this review be completed? (1) Yes. The report on the needs analysis of interpreting and translating services within the Western Australian government sector was completed in May 2004. The report made recommendations in the three areas of the review of the current WA language services policy, indigenous interpreting services and a state-based interpreting service. (2) The recommendations relating to the review of the current Western Australian language services policy were approved by the Premier as the previous Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Interests in June 2004. The Premier also tabled the report and advised the public sector agencies represented at the strategic management council meeting of September 2004 of the intention to implement the recommendations of the report in relation to the review of the WA language services policy.
