(a) In 2011-12 and 2012-13 to date, for the requested areas, the number of 'restriction of supply' notices issued by the water corporation are: 14,723 and 2,338; 13, 034 and 1,929; 15,756 and 2,421; 3,643 and 711; 4,207 and 572; 5,840 and 1,242.
For 2011-12 this is resulted in a total of 2,288 customers actually put on temporary restricted supply. This compares to 2007-2008 where a total of 2,164 customers were put on temporary restricted supply. Note that restricted supply does not mean that a customer is without water it means their flow of water is reduced to approximately 2.3 litres per minute and is a temporary measure in pace for a short period only (maximum of 14 days).
(b) In 2011-12 and 2012-13 to date, for the requested areas, the number of customers requesting payment plans are: 22,971 and 5,285; 19,513 and 4,364; 25,781 and 6,443; 5,748 and 1,191; 4,802 and 937; 11,515 and 2,619. These numbers include all accounts, including industrial, commercial and residential customers on payment plans. A single customer can enter into a number of arrangements during the year, each time an amendment is made to a payment plan this is counted as a new payment plan. The Water Corporation has been actively negotiating payment plans with customers struggling to pay their bills as a preferred method of payment including making payment plans more flexible to customers' individual ability to pay.
(c) In 2011-12 and 2012-13 to date, for the requested areas, the numbers of customers entered into a payment plans are: 22,971 and 5,285; 19,513 and 4,364; 25,781 and 6,443; 5,748 and 1,191; 4,802 and 937; 11,515 and 2,619.
(d) As at 30 June 2012 and 31 August 2013, for the requested areas, the numbers of customers on a payment plan are: 3,233 and 4,304; 2,719 and 3,546; 3,999 and 5,416; 827 and 970; 577 and 705; 1,467 and 2,169. The Water Corporation has a rolling system for reading water meters so water consumption charges are staggered across the year and state.
(e) In 2011-12 and 2012-13 to date, for the requested areas, the number of customers pursued through legal avenues for outstanding payments are: 229 and 72; 215 and 60; 278 and 54; 175 and 1; 149 and 8; 184 and 0. This compares to 2007-2008 where a total of 1,333 customers were pursued through legal avenues for outstanding payments.
(f) The Department for Child Protection is the agency which receives and approves applications for the Hardship Utility Grants Scheme. Please refer this question to the Minister for Child Protection.
