I refer to potential irrigation projects in the
Kimberley, and I ask: (a) is the Minister and/or the Department of Water (DOW) aware of any proposals or concepts for a dam on the Margaret River, and an irrigation precinct at Flora Valley, with the Shire of Halls Creek as the proponent or lead agency as specified in the Pilbara Regional Development Australia Mid and North Western Australia Portfolio – July 2016 ; (b) if yes to (a), what is the name and nature of the proposal(s) or concept(s); (c) if yes to (a), has the Minister or DOW received any correspondence on the matter; (d) if yes to (c), will the Minister table all associated correspondence and documents; (e) if no to (d), why not; (f) if yes to (a), is it true that the concept proposes to dam the Margaret River or any other river in the Fitzroy Valley; (g) if yes to (a), what area of land is proposed to be irrigated from a dam on the Margaret River; (h) if yes to (a), where would the water for a Flora Valley irrigation area be sourced from; (i) if yes to (a), will the Minister table all correspondence and reports associated with any concept or proposal; (j) if no to (i), why not; and (k) will the Minister rule out a dam on the Margaret River?

(a) The Department of Water was consulted on a draft version of the Pilbara Regional Development Australia Mid and North Western Australian Investment Portfolio in May 2016. The Department has not been consulted on the final version of the document.
