TEACHERS - RESIGNATIONS AND RETIREMENTS
I refer the minister to the claim on page 7 of the executive summary of the Gerard Daniels report that the Department of Education and Training received 900 resignations in 2006 from teachers under the age of 55 years. Will the minister explain the disparity between this figure and his response to question without notice 304, asked on 10 May 2007, which stated that there had been a total of 163 teacher resignations - 73 primary and 90 secondary - or 478 total retirements and resignations; and, if not, why not?
