I refer to the Tonkin Highway extension from Thomas Road to South Western Highway, and I ask: (a) What is the expected total cost of this project; (b) Has the State government committed funding to this project: (i) If yes to (b), what is the total amount of State funding committed, broken down into each financial year; (c) What is the expected commencement date for this project; and (d) What is the expected completion date for this project?

It should be noted that the Member for Darling Range was a member of the Legislative Council for the East Metropolitan Region for eight and a half years in government. The East Metropolitan Region encompasses the Darling Range electorate and the member did not once raise the Tonkin Highway extension in Parliament during this time.
(a)-(b) Refer to the ministerial media statement published 14 April 2019.
(i) $400,000 of State funding is allocated in 2019/20 and $100.6m is allocated in 2020/21 onwards.
(c)-(d) The project commenced in May 2019. Detailed timelines will be finalised as the project progresses. It is noted that under the Member’s former Liberal-National Government, this project would not have been a priority until 2050. The document extract is attached for the Member’s reference.
