Answer as at 29 June 2016:
(a) No funding was appropriated to expand the Approvals Tracking System.
$8 million from 2010-11 to 2015-16 was appropriated to build the Approvals Tracking System.
The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) advises that progress has been made on expanding the existing approvals tracking system.
The expansion has included improving the electronic tracking system in the DMP where its processes directly impact other agencies. This includes collaboration with the Department of Aboriginal Affairs to expand DMP’s online lodgement and approvals tracking facility to include approval requirements under the Western Australian Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972.
Work is also in progress on a collaboration project with the Office of the Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) to improve the transfer of spatial data between the two agencies on matters requiring input from OEPA and DMP.
